Don't you love spending hours and hours searching Google Earth™ and Google Maps™, looking at interesting landforms that just might be an archaeological site or ruin?
We do too. (In the "old days" we bet you would pour over old U.S.G.S. topos doing the same thing.)
Combining that with a love of history and discovering the traces of the people that came before us is what caused us to create Google Archaeology.
And we want to share our discoveries with you. (If you would like to share your discoveries with us, that's ok too.) We have spent all our waking hours (ok, some) looking the world over trying to find interesting archaeological sites and ruins that are visible from the air when viewing them by Google Earth or Google Maps.
Below is a sample map from our "Discoveries" section. Visit there and look for discoveries near you. When you find a site that looks interesting to you, click on the map on that page and it will bring up our Google map page where all our discoveries are located.
If you'd like to add your own discoveries to our web site, please contact us.
While our web site is up and running we are still in the process of uploading all the sites from our Google Map page: Google Archaeology. Please be patient while we get up to speed.
